Tina Herbert’s Record of Service

Delivering Results for Columbia

From her earlier work as the Director of the Office of Business Opportunities to her first term on City Council, Tina Herbert has consistently delivered results that strengthen neighborhoods, support families, and create opportunities for District One.

Before City Council (2010–2017):

  • Helped launch the annual Women’s Empowerment event.
  • Implemented the Facade Program, leveraging $459,000 into $6.1 million in downtown investment.
  • Helped ensure opportunities for minority businesses and workforce development in the construction of the Bull Street baseball stadium,

On City Council (2022–Present):

  • Initiated the Youth Service Guide to connect parents with free and affordable activities.
  • Initiated an update to the North Columbia Master Plan, the first update of a regional plan in City's history
  • Created the “Let’s Build Together” initiative with churches to revitalize underserved communities.
  • Advocated for $300,000 for a mobile grocery market (Tom’s Creek was the successful applicant) and $800,000+ for the Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
  • Championed upgrades to several neighborhood parks and supported the creation of Randall Park in Belmont.
  • Advocated for $1.3 million for blight removal.
  • Helped secure the honorary naming of the Washington Street Historic Black Business District.

Policy Leadership:

  • Nuisance ordinance to fight blight.
  • City's first short-term rental ordinance.
  • Higher police pay to help with recruitment and retention
    • Stronger penalties for failing to report lost or stolen guns.
  • Raising Council members pay from $13,000 to $20,000.
